SOUTH BEND - Al J. "Super" Superczynski, 98 passed away Monday. Surviving is a niece, Carol Kotolinski of North Liberty; and nephews, David Flowers of South Bend, Wayne Superczynski of South Bend, Jerry Kwiatkowski of Mishawaka, and Eugene Kotolinski of North Liberty. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home.

SOUTH BEND - Al J. "Super" Superczynski, 98, of South Bend, Indiana passed away Monday, January 3, 2011. Al was born on September 12, 1912, in South Bend, Indiana, to Martin and Mary Superczynski. Super was one of the longest serving employees of the Bendix Corporation retiring in 1972. He was proud of the fact that he participated in one of the first sit down strikes in the United States. On November 25, 1950, Al married Evelyn A. Cukrowicz, who preceded him in death on November 23, 2002. Surviving is a niece, Carol Kotolinski of North Liberty, Indiana; and nephews, David (Ginger) Flowers of South Bend, Indiana, Wayne (Debbie) Superczynski of South Bend, Indiana, Jerry Kwiatkowski of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Eugene Kotolinski of North Liberty, Indiana. Sisters, Henrietta Kotolinski, Virginia Van Ooteghem, and a brother, Dennis Superczynski all preceded him in death. Super was drafted into the US Army during December of 1942 at the age of 30 and served under General George S. Patton until his discharge in January of 1946. He was assigned to the 14th. Field Artillery Observation Unit, Battery A. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. To send condolences online, please visit Kaniewski.com.
