New Carlisle - Irvin J. Wojciechowski, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Hamilton Grove Nursing Facility. Irvin was born October 25, 1922, in Rolling Prairie, to the late Joseph and Rose (Miller) Wojciechowski. Irvin was preceded in death by a sister, Rosella Wojciechowski and brother, John Wojciechowski. On October 2, 1948, Irvin married the love of his life, Gertrude (Marshall) Wojciechowski. She survives along with their children, Leonard (Genny)Wojciechowski of South Bend, IN, Jim Wojciechowski of Flemington, NJ, Linda (Michael) Swift of Greenwood, IN and Charles Wojciechowski of NYC, NY; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Irvin was a graduate of Rolling Prairie High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was in the 80th Division stationed in Europe. He retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1986 where he worked for 30 years. Irvin was a parishioner of St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #297 of New Carlisle, and the U.S. Army 80th Division Association. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, spending time with his family and, of course, trimming trees. Visitation for Irvin will be 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, September 17, 2017, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 2:00 PM (Central Time) 3:00 PM EST. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM (Central Time) 12:00 PM EST Monday, September 18, 2017, in St. John Kanty Catholic Church, 7012 N. 600 E., Rolling Prairie, IN 46371. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
