SOUTH BEND - Edwin J. Bucholtz, 81, passed away at 6:15pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in Hospice House. Edwin was born on August 22, 1929 in South Bend to the late Edwin and Joanne (Kazmierczak) Bucholtz. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Bucholtz. On February 4, 1950 he married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Eugenia "Jeanny" (Klosinski), she survives, along with their two children; Diane (Don) Hanyzewski of South Bend and John (Patti) Bucholtz of McCordsville, IN; six grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Hanyzewski, Kyle (Jessica) Hanyzewski, Kelly Hanyzewski, Chris Bucholtz, Jason (Erica) Bucholtz and Nick Bucholtz; four great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Madeline, Grace and Evan Hanyzewski; and by his sister, Marguerite Duncan of Mishawaka, IN. Edwin was a driver for Towne Air Freight, where he retired from in 1994. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Washington High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the American Legion 357. Edwin enjoyed watching Notre Dame and Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed golfing as well as spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, July 22, 2011 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 23, 2011 with visitation starting at 1:00pm in the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W.
